I had 3 gallons of wort boiling when i placed the chiller into the wort. i left the chiller in the wort for 15 minutes or so to make sure it was completely clean (it's cooper, no metal taste). i took the wort off the burner and attached the chiller to my sink using a bronze adapter i purchased (see my review on this) without a problem. turned on the water and smiled. that's when i noticed a... I had to purchase some additional clamps to tighten the hose where it connects to the copper. I also bent the copper down so it hangs over the edge of the pot to further reduce the chances of water spraying into the pot, but the additional clamps alone have prevented any leakage so far. Still it is a great value just have some adjustable clamps on hand when ordering. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Homebrew Immersion Wort Chiller - 25' Copper Tubing I got this for my husband for Fathers Day. My husband is an award winning home brewer who designs his own recipes and is in the process of starting his own micro-brew label. He had told me he needed a back up chiller so I found this one. I don't know much about brewing equipment(it is his passion) but he told me that this was better than the one he had been using and was shocked at how little I paid for it (he paid a lot more for the one he had and it was smaller and not as good). I have since watched him use it, even helped on occassion and there have been no issues with the fittings or anything. It also expands to fit any size batch of beer that he happens to be brewing that day. He brews just about every weekend so this gets used a lot. He is very happy with it. |
